Due to the size and shape of the console in my boat, I could not use a traditional flat mount on it. To the right of the console I did have a flat area. This mount was easy to install and it put my side imaging unit at my fingertips. No reaching to access it as this mount allowed the unit to swing just to the right of my steering wheel. I love the mount.
