The RAM® X-Grip® Large Phone Mount with Low-Profile RAM® Tough-Claw™ (RAM-HOL-UN10-400-2U) consists of the small RAM® Tough-Claw™ base and universal large RAM® X-Grip® phone holder, connected by the RAM® Pin-Lock™ adapter. The large RAM® X-Grip® features an ‘X’ design that expands and contracts to secure your phone, and includes a device tether recommended for outdoor applications. With the RAM® Tough-Claw™ base connected, easily attach the RAM® X-Grip® on round, square, and odd-shaped rails and bars ranging from .625” to 1.5” in outer diameter. This kit is compatible with handheld devices that will fit the dimensions listed below. It is important to verify the dimensions of your handheld device with its case, sleeve, or skin when determining the overall size. The Ram mount I’m using is the RAP-460-UN7U with the Tough Strap mount. That mount with Ram Mount Claw, on my motorcycle handlebar, is a very low profile way to go. It holds the iphone securely with the added safety of the included tether. The tough Strap is infinitely adjustable with the turn of the adjustment knob. If you’re unsure how much of the strap to trim off, mount on the bar before securing, then mark, remove from bar and trim. After trimming, re-mount and secure. Very simple and very secure. The only issue I have with the mount is the placement of rubber holders on the claw. You have to be careful not to cover the buttons on the side of the device with the rubber holders. Additionally, after a few months of use, the tether is showing signs of tearing so carrying a spare is advised. Finally, I’m extremely pleased with the Ram Mount and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a well engineered, well built secure way to hold a phone or gps unit on your motorcycle.handlebar.
